Doors 7pm
First Set. 7:30pm – 8:15pm Adriana-Lucía Cotes
Noted by Maura Johnston for Rolling Stone “Cotes rails against the un-pretty hate machines at work, her agitation mutating into a full-throated rebuke of any vampiro who wants to tighten their screws.” Adriana-Lucía Cotes, as a prolific founding member of DC post-punk favorites Mock Identity, Cotes weaves every song with the thread of her life and her healing with that of her music and voice.
Second Set. 8:30pm –9:30pm Emotional World
Emotional World, (members of Flasher, Big Hush, and Kid Claws), began in 2018 as an exercise in an anything-goes approach to songwriting. Often blending noisy, angular guitars and dreamy soundscapes, Owen Wuerker, Emilie Toler, Emma Baker, and Cyd Birch feel most at home chasing the muse that lies between the anxious conscious and subconscious.
Final Set. 9:45pm – 10:30pm Des Demonas
DC’s Des Demonas has been hailed as a favorite of Marc Riley (BBC6 Music/The Fall) and Henry Rollins (KCRW FM/Black Flag) since the release of their debut LP on In The Red Records and their subsequent singles and EP. The group is made up of familiar names from the DC punk, garage, and indie scenes. Kenyan punk-poet-politiqué Jacky “Cougar” Abok (Foul Swoops, Thee Lolitas) is on vocals, Mark Cisneros (Hammered Hulls, Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey Birds) is on guitar, Paul Vivari (Benjy Ferree, DJ Soul Call Paul) is on Farfisa organ and bass machine, and Matt Gatwood (Two Inch Astronaut) is on drums.
