Mutu Sakata, a young Black woman from Mississippi, shares her adventures in the big city: DC. Mutu narrates her struggles, pains, and triumphs through various characters. Mutu Sakata’s name is Lozi for “genuinely human” both to the self and to the society. However, the cultural shock and loneliness of a new city may just crush Mutu’s spirit forever. Mutu faces her deepest wounds and greatest fears and embraces the most broken parts of herself to create something truly magical.
